Virtual Consolidation - Alliance, Partnering or Merger?
We're pleased to confirm the details of our panel discussion on Virtual Consolidation in the mining industry which will be our first event for 2011!
We will run our usual panel format, which will comprise:
• Frank Fulham of Austar Coal Mine, representing the perspective of the mine owner;
• Grant Case of UGM, providing the view of a service provider to the industry; and
• Adam Gledhill of Inbye to give a perspective from a supplier of goods / equipment.
The focus of the discussion will be on mining services players jointly tendering for, and working together on, larger and larger mining contracts.
As a provider to the Hunter Valley mining sector, is it better to merge or continue to jointly tender for work? What are the advantages and disadvantages of either approach? How should a mining services alliance or partnering arrangement be structured? Are alliance and partnering tender responses effective? Do they create value for the mining services players and are they successful in winning work?
The discussion took place on 15th February 2011. You can read the summary here.
